This Malibu Sunset Cocktail is a tropical rum drink layered with pineapple juice, orange juice, and grenadine—finished with a cherry on top. It’s fast, fun, and looks just like a Caribbean sunset in your glass.
Fill Glass: Fill a highball or hurricane glass about ⅔ full with ice cubes.
Shake the Cocktail: Add Malibu rum, orange juice, and pineapple juice to a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice. Shake well for 15–20 seconds.
Strain into Glass: Strain the mixture into your prepared glass.
Add the Sunset Layer: Slowly pour grenadine into the center of the drink. It will sink and create a layered “sunset” effect. You can also pour it over the back of a spoon.
Garnish & Serve: Top with a maraschino cherry and a wedge of orange or pineapple. Serve immediately.
Notes
Fresh Juice = Better Flavor: If possible, use freshly squeezed orange juice.
Don’t Over-Stir: Stirring too much will mix the layers and take away the visual effect.
No Grenadine? Pomegranate juice or cranberry juice can work in a pinch.
Mocktail Option: Replace the rum with coconut water or cream of coconut for a booze-free version.
Party Tip: Make a big batch of the base (Malibu + juices) and pour into glasses. Add grenadine to each glass individually for that sunset look.
