This Frozen Margarita Cocktail is exactly what you want on those hot summer days when the only acceptable plan is to cool off with something icy, citrusy, and refreshing. With just a handful of simple ingredients - tequila, fresh limes, triple sec, and simple syrup - this frosty drink blends into the perfect slushy texture that tastes like a mini vacation to Mexico.
Rim your favorite cocktail glass with salt (if desired). To do this, take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of the glass. Then, dip the rim of the glass in a plate of salt to coat it.
Add 2 cups of ice cubes, 2 ounces of tequila, 1 ounce of lime juice, 2 ounces of Triple Sec, and 2 ounces of simple syrup to a blender.
Blend on high speed until smooth and slushy.
Pour the mixture into a salt-rimmed glass.
Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.
Notes
*Simple Syrup: You can easily make simple syrup at home by combining 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar in a saucepan, heating the mixture until it dissolves, and then letting it cool. Store any extra syrup in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. If you plan on mixing lots of drinks, double or triple the amounts.
If you want to make a large batch, double or triple the ingredients and blend them in batches in the blender.
Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
Taste the margarita as you go along, and add more simple syrup if you want it sweeter or more lime juice if you want it more sour.
Use enough ice to make it thick and slushy, but not so much that it becomes too thick to drink. If you want your drink to be less thick, use less ice.
