Notes
Nutritional information is approximate and is meant as a guideline only.*Simple Syrup: Create homemade simple syrup easily by combining equal parts (½ cup) water and sugar in a saucepan. Whisk together until sugar is dissolved. If desired, add 1/2 teaspoon of mint extract to make mint simple syrup. Cool before using. Store extra syrup in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Double or triple the amounts for larger batches of delicious cocktails.Expert Tips:
Choose ripe and juicy blackberries: Opt for plump, sweet berries at their peak of ripeness.
Use fresh mint leaves: Look for fresh mint leaves that are bright green and aromatic, and avoid wilted or discolored leaves.
Adjust sweetness: Adjust the sweetness level to suit your taste by adding more or less simple syrup.
Muddle gently: When muddling the blackberries and mint leaves, be careful not to overdo it. You want to release the flavors without crushing the ingredients into a pulp.
Use a high-quality white rum: Choose a good white rum for the best results.
Strain or not: Depending on your preference, you can choose to strain the blackberry mixture before pouring it over the ice or leave the fruit and mint bits in the drink for added texture. Straining will result in a smoother cocktail, while leaving the bits can provide a more rustic appearance.
Garnish with fresh blackberries and mint: Garnish the cocktail with fresh blackberries, mint sprigs, and a lime wheel for a beautiful presentation.
Make ahead of time: You can make the simple syrup ahead of time and store it in a glass jar in the fridge for up to two weeks. This makes it easy to whip up a batch of mojitos for a crowd.
Use a large pitcher: To make a batch of blackberry mojitos for a crowd, use a large pitcher instead of a cocktail shaker. Simply multiply the recipe to fit the size of your pitcher and stir well to combine.
Enjoy responsibly: Remember to enjoy your blackberry mojito responsibly and never drink and drive.
